UniqueFix: Doodle Jump

I was once like the thousands of iphone users in the quest to have the high score amongst my group of friends on Doodle Jump. Yet I could never master the game, I had no idea how they were getting into the 50's, 70's, and hundreds of thousands of points. I would have nightmares about the evil "RARGG RARGGHH" calls of monsters and the dreaded "Wheeeeeeeeew" signaling my defeat. Through my many hours of dedication and practice I have come up with several Doodle Jump tips and strategies that will hopefully be able to fix you being bad at this stupid addictive game.

Play with the sound on
While this may drive people around you to their breaking point, it is a valuable tool to reach outstanding scores. This is because you can hear the monsters before they appear on screen. This is especially helpful with the UFO seen as how you have very little time to react once it is visible.

Focus on your landing
This may seem like "duh" but after reading this try it and see how much you improve. Occasionally while playing you will be worried about looking up and trying to spot monsters and then miss your step! Since we have the sound on and will be alerted of monsters you can now focus one jump at a time. Keep in mind that it is not timed, there is no race, and most of the time the step will still be there for you to jump on again. This is especially important to remember once you get over 40k and 90% of the steps are moving.

The wrap around
There are times where a jump looks impossible. This may be because of a black hole impeding your path or some other obstacle. It is often forgotten that you can warp from the right side of the screen to the left and vice versa. This can also come in handy when steps are on complete opposite sides of the screen. I know it may be scary at first, but with practice it will be come a valuable skill in your arsenal.

Remember the paths you take
Hopefully this will occur to anyone who plays long enough, but I am going to try to boost the rest of yall around the learning curve and save you some time. When you encounter the exploding steps, though there are about 3 various arrangements, each arrangement explodes in the same order every time. Once you have a path down that works, use it every time. Some of the steps stay yellow for a ridiculously long time. Patters also appear at other times with the white steps and elevators but knowing that isn't as helpful.

Let your subconscious play
Yep thats right. It is way better at this game than you are. Some of mine and my friends highest scores were set when we weren't even paying attention. How can this be? Well if your like me, when you focus completely on the game and you start to get higher and higher, your palms start to sweat, your heart starts to beat harder, and you get an adrenaline rush as if your life is on the line. Then "Wheeeeeeeeew" you miss a landing on an easy stationary step 5,000 points away from your buddies high score. You have landed on steps like that a countless number of times, what caused this to happen? Your SCARED. You let fear get to you and it cost you your life, well not quite. Heres how to fix it. Try playing music, talking to people, or even just thinking about other things while your playing. Don't look at the score, just jump from step to step and keep your mind occupied with your favorite Britney Spears song or your friends story about chasing midgets. You will be surprised with the results.

Pause
Through one of the updates they implemented a pause button on the top right of the screen. However you can only do it 3 times per game, it is a useful tool if your nerves start to get the best of you. For instance, you keep dying just after you get about 2/3 of the way to the score your trying to reach from careless mistakes set on from nervousness. This in turn makes you angry and then you make even more mistakes. It is impossible to do good at Doodle Jump when your mad. Try pausing at 2/3 of the way at a good stopping point (green step) and doing something else for a couple minutes, forget about the score. Pick up your phone, unpause, and start playing just as if you started a new game. Voila you can get another 2/3 so you end up having 4/3 and overachieving achieving your goal.

I hope that by using these tips you will be able to rise to Doodle Jump grandmaster amongst your friends. Just remember, its a dumb game, it doesn't count for anything other than bragging rights. So have fun!
